IMAGING WEEK 1

In the first lecture of imaging, We learnt the basic of Adobe Softwares . There are 2 types of applications – Vector based and Roster based. Vector based applications are those which are used to make logos and illustrations, and use lines as the base whereas Roster based applications use pixels eg: photoshop.

Our first software is the Adobe Illustrator.

We started off with learning the shortcut keys and basic knowledge  –

– that the grey area around the main artboard is non printable.

– to open a new file Cntrl N

– to change the number of sides for polygon, hold the mouse and press the down or up arrow key.

– to delete something use Cntrl A.

– to align use ALT SHIFT

– to copy use ALT and drag

– to repeat the last action use Cntrl D

– to magnify use Cntrl + and to minimize Cntrl –

After knowing these we learnt the tranformation of objects – the scales. angles, strokes, effects , etc. Stroke should always be set to pt1.

The pathfinder is an important element of the illustrator. It has various tools – minus front, trim, unite , merege , divide, etc.

We then created our first artwork of a flower which I have attached below.
