STUDIO LECTURE 6

After a week off we returned to college to do some final work on our first project. In lecture 6, we had to combine 10 of the brown card file models to make 1 single composition that sums up our metaphors and combines our ideas and views. This composition does not need to have a particular shape or size. By forming this, we are basically forming a composition that represents us as a whole – it describes us as an individual, our qualities and how we portray ourselves in our own eyes. Self analysis is a very important part – we form this image of ourselves in our head, then focus on what part we want to improve and work towards it in bits and pieces until we get the desired result. This in turn makes us a better version of ourselves but doesn’t let us loose our own uniqueness.

I combined my individual pieces to form a colour palette. Everyone has a mixed personality and although it changes over time – some basics remain constant. In the similar manner, different colours are also created but their base colours are the primary colours which remain constant while forming a new colour.

Colours are present all around us and are involved in every aspect of our life. Life would have been dull and meaningless without colours. I’m comparing my personality traits to colours because without them my life and everything around would be dull and meaningless. These traits add colour and form to my canvas of life. The brush here is me, I am being ruled by the hand of social norms and the colours are chosen indirectly by the society. However I use my own form to paint the picture.

Below is what my end piece looked like.
