As the name suggests – this subject is all about studying the spaces around us and the materials that are used in this very space. It gives us the exposure to different materials and their behaviour. We then moved on to discussing the definition of the words space, boundaries, personal space, etc and how they have an impact on our lives. Here is what I learnt from this discussion :
Space creates the concept of movement and existence. If there is no space, these concepts can not exist. It gives us freedom to move, but within a certain boundary.
Boundary can either be imaginary or made of some material. It marks the limitation of a space or thing.
Material is what creates space. It allows us to shape, feel, form objects and interface experience. It is something you can hold and use it as per it’s properties.
We ended this class by discussing personal spaces and how it varies from individual to individual. Sir also called upon some of the students to demonstrate what personal space means to them.
