IMAGING WEEK 4

In today’s lecture we were going to be graded for 3 of our posters – 2 based on basic shapes and pen tool and 1 based on clipmask, gradients, etc.

BASIC SHAPES

CLIPMASK

Today’s lesson was about live trace, symbols and brushs.

Live trace is a tool that can be used to change an image into an object on the art board. But it can not be used on an image with colour gradient, it can only be used when an image has a flat colour. This tool randomly adds nodes to the object – in no specific number. To use this tool we have to select image trace – black and white logo – expand. If we use this tool on a text then we can not use pathfinder.

Symbols tool let’s one use the pre installed designs/ borders that are already available in  the library. To make any changes in these designs – select the magic wand and do so. But if you do not break the link of the library and artboard then the changes you make will have an effect on the design EVERYWHERE.

Brush tool is used for strokes. You can make custom boarders and patterns using this tool. You can also give the calligraphy effect to your text using this tool. There are multiple types of brushes available in the brush library. If you create a boarder or pattern you like and desire to use it in the future then you can save that pattern in the brush library by simply clicking on it, dragging it and dropping it in the library. To create a pattern of multiple colours you can divide an object using grids, colour it the way you want and then go ahead and form your pattern.

This session was over and for the next week’s session we have to make 2 more posters using all the tools we have learnt till now and also create a mood board using poster designs available online to draw inspiration from, for the next few posters.
